Airborne Radar Staggered PRF Coherent Processing Method for Down-Looking Target Detection

Airborne radar plays a crucial role in detecting aerial targets, but its detection capability can be significantly affected by strong ground clutter when operating down-looking mode. The range-Doppler (RD) results of airborne may overlap the causing target occlusion and rendering them undetectable. In addition to detection, accurate extraction parameters is also great importance. Due high-speed movement platform, targets exhibit ambiguity, necessitating use appropriate methods resolve ambiguity. Aiming at problem with two-dimensional ambiguity during this paper conducts study on based orthogonal signals combined pulse repetition frequency (PRF) staggered transmission. An optimization method employed design multiple sets PRF values, aiming reduce blind zone. resolved using PRF, coherent processing performed corresponding echoes transmission intervals, maximizing utilization energy. This approach enhances signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improves performance parameter estimation accuracy, particularly for low SNR targets. superiority proposed demonstrated through simulation experiments.
